Axel Scheffler is a renowned award winning children’s book illustrator. His books have been published in many languages and his work exhibited all over the world.

This year I have chosen Axel Scheffler as our inspirational person in Nursery due to the familiarity children have with his work through collaborations with authors such as Julia Donaldson. His illustrations such as ‘The Gruffalo’ have become widely recognised and feature regularly in our Nursery story times.

Scheffler’s journey within art began when he was a child where his interest in art began. He continued to study art through school which lead to future opportunities and collaborations with a wide range of authors.
